Kreta<\/h2>\n

Kreta ist mit einer L\u00e4nge von 260 km und einer Breite von 16 bis 60 km die gr\u00f6sste Insel von Griechenland. Durch seine s\u00fcdliche Lage hat es das ganze Jahr \u00fcber ein angenehmes Klima. Die Insel ist sehr abwechslungsreich. Die Natur ist oft rauh und gebirgig, aber gleichzeitig gr\u00fcn und fruchtbar. Zahlreiche vertr\u00e4umte D\u00f6rfer liegen im Innernen der Insel, an der K\u00fcste kleine und gr\u00f6ssere Urlaubsorte mit sch\u00f6nen Str\u00e4nden und Badebuchten. Weiters findet man arch\u00e4ologische Ausgrabungen, Kl\u00f6ster, Festungen und nicht zu vergessen die eindrucksvollen Schluchten. Die Bewohner sehen sich erstmal als Kreter, und dann erst als Griechen, sie sind stolz auf ihre Insel und ihre Traditionen. Auffallend ist ihre Gastfreundschaft, die ein wichtiger Bestandteil ihrer Kultur ist. Obwohl Kreta durch Orte wie Chersonnisos oder Malia ein Bild des Massentourismus gibt, werden Sie merken dass das in Mirtos nicht der Fall ist, Sie k\u00f6nnen dort Ruhe und manchmal \u201eh\u00f6rbare\u201c Stille geniessen.<\/p>\n

Durch das Diktigebirge gesch\u00fctzt hat der S\u00fcden von Kreta und damit auch Mirtos ein subtropisches Klima. Das bedeutet es ist hier im Winter viel milder und im Sommer einiges heisser als an der Nordk\u00fcste. Am Strand von Mirtos weht allerdings oft in den Sommermonaten eine k\u00fchlende Brise vom Meer her.
In der Umgebung von Mirtos finden Sie viele interessante Sehensw\u00fcrdigkeiten und landestypische Bergd\u00f6rfer mit ihrem freundlichen Bewohnern.<\/p>\n

Die reiche Geschichte von Kreta bewirkt dass man viele arch\u00e4ologische Ausgrabungen besuchen kann. Auch in der N\u00e4he von Mirtos liegen die Reste eines minoischen Dorfes. Die ber\u00fchmteste Ausgrabungsst\u00e4tte ist Knossos, bei Heraklion, ca. eineinhalb Fahrstunden n\u00f6rdlich von Mirtos.<\/p>\n

Ganz in der N\u00e4he liegt die Badeinsel Chrissi oder die Sarakina Schlucht wo die Abenteuerlustigen durchklettern k\u00f6nnen. Etwas weiter weg liegt mitten im Diktigebirge das Lassithiplateau.
